[ Stacey ] circa 1971 Wingman No. 1

Still chasing the horizon — just with a few more miles on the airframe.

Spent most of the '90s as a US Marine avionics tech, helping keep the Cobras and Hueys in the air — close enough to aviation to get the itch, but not close enough to scratch it. But after another decade or so, the toolbox was eventually traded for a seat on the other side of the windshield as a corporate pilot, which he does to this day.

Wife, kids, grandkids — and somehow still willing to treat every new challenge like a 22-year-old with something to prove. Old dog? Sure. New tricks? Absolutely. The throttle's wide open.

[ John ] circa 1969 Wingman No. 2

Retired? Not even close.

Built and ran a couple of beer companies, one from the ground up! Late nights, early mornings, and enough hops-fueled chaos to keep life interesting. Then actually did the one thing everyone only says they'll do and sold them, cashed out, and “retired”… for about five minutes. Seemed the quiet started feeling less like peace and more like a problem that needed solving. Already having dipped his toes into flight lessons, either the itch was there before Stacey talked him into any of this, or it explains a few things about how this whole plan came together.

Again — wife, kids, grandkids — still the guy who gets restless once the calendar clears. Somehow it's fuller than ever — but with better stories.

More Old Dogs may join the pack along the way. Stay tuned.

Come along for the ride.
